USAF Low-Altitude Training Navigation (LATN)

This may be good news from the Peaceful Skies Coalition

Happy Anniversary - Celebrating a year of keeping our skies peaceful!

As a result of your work, Cannon withdrew their Environmental Assessment, and their FONSI (Finding of No Significant Impact). The air force is now reconsidering their options. In the meantime, Cannon has stated that they found "excess capacity from other bases" for training.

Sincere Thanks from the Peaceful Skies Coalition

The people of New Mexico and Colorado have spoken - loudly and clearly - NO to the  proposed low altitude flights.

While we don't know the final number yet, we do know that before the deadline on last Saturday, more than 1000 comments had already been submitted at the various forums held by Cannon as well as by mail, fax and email.

Town of Taos Resolution 10-49 A resolution of the governing body of the Town of Taos adamantly opposing the United States Air Force establishing a low-altitude tactical navigation training area in northern New Mexico.

Taos County Resolution 2010-51 A resolution in opposition to the Low-Altitude Tactical Navigation Training Exercises proposed by Canon Air Force Base.

Here' what our national representatives have to say:

Senator Jeff Bingaman

Senator Tom Udall

Representative Ben Ray Lujan

The United States Air Force maintains a public information site where information regarding the proposed LATN is regularly postred.  As of November 1, 2010 the following links were active:
